  • Q1: Is Zoysia a warm or a cold season grass?

Zoysia is warm-season grass. It grows from the late spring till the early summer. However, Emerald Zoysia can withstand harsh weather conditions, due to which it is one of the most popular lawn grasses. So, whenever you plant it, it can survive both the weather conditions.

Zeon Zoysia is a fine-textured grass with an improved shade and drought tolerance. It survives in hot weather, making it ideal for people living in hotter climates. It is best to do sod install it in the winter season because the light would be sufficient. Though it can grow in drought, it won’t receive that beautiful texture that you might be looking for.

Apply fertilizers to the Emerald Zoysia Sod during the springtime:

The first application of fertilizers to the sod should be during the springtime. After that, the high-nitrogen slow-release fertilizer could be applied after eight weeks. Then winter fertilizing could be done to it in the month of October.

The lawn should also be aerated to allow the nutrients to penetrate it. The soil should be watered regularly so that it can replenish the grass with water and nutrients.

Do not cut the height of the grass more than 2 inches:

At sod farms, when they sell you Emerald Zoysia sod, they also give you the instructions you should follow how to install sod and get a lush green garden. There is no hidden secret that emerald zoysia takes a long time to grow.

So, if you want a green garden, you shouldn’t cut the grass below the height of two inches. If you cut it greater than two inches, you won’t get that carpet-like appearance. However, if you don’t prefer that carpet-like appearance, you cut the grass more than 2 inches.

Apply the weed killer chemicals in the morning and the afternoon:

Though weed rarely grows in the Emerald Zoysia sod, when it does, it needs to be eliminated with the help of weed-killing chemicals. When they are not eliminated, one needs to use the weed killer chemicals. However, the one thing which should be kept in mind is that you should apply the weed killers in the morning or before noon when the sod is not wet so that it does not lead to the burning of the grass.
